Simply Zurich
Permanent Exhibition

“Simply Zurich” is a broad, unconventional and playful permanent exhibition about the City and Canton of Zurich. It provides a wide-ranging, varied overview of the past and present.

The exhibition is set across three rooms with each taking a different approach and providing a different experience: In the first room, a large sculpture by Zurich-based trio of artists Mickry 3 presents some special sights. A swarm installation of 20 screens shows entertaining short films about the places, people and traditions of the Canton of Zurich. Factually accurate yet subtle and humorous, the second room presents meaningful objects in an oversized display cabinet made from 100 illuminated coloured boxes in varying sizes. The history and meaning behind these objects is explained via image text stories on touchscreens in front of the exhibit. The third room is an immersive, three-dimensional world of "point-cloud" images offering new insights into familiar and hidden places across the canton. Concept, content and design: Holzer Kobler Architekturen and Heller Enterprises.
