R.B. Kitaj 1932 - 2007

The exhibition shows the first complete retrospective on the work of R.B. Kitaj after his death in 2007 and, with approximately 65 paintings as well as prints and drawings, presents an overview of all the periods of his prolific oeuvre.

Lovers and enemies, virile life phases and times of physical fragility, politics, history, literature, philosophy and last, but not least, Judaism’s question of belonging, which neither goes beyond religion nor Zionismus, are the puzzle pieces from which Kitaj created his remarkable paintings and collages.
