The first topical exhibition in the new building of Kunsthalle Mannheim sheds light on the economy's impact on the arts by presenting classical modern art from the 1920s and 1930s, focussing on the German Weimar Republic, the Soviet Union and the United States.

The third edition of Open House is on in Zurich! The festival presents free access to more than 100 buildings and many guided tours on the weekend of September 29th and 30th, 2018. Some visits require a reservation.

Staying at a Container

Hotels built up from containers seem to boom. Swiss newspaper NZZ presents various versions of the concept, among them the hostel in Warnemünde.

Container constructions bring to mind also student housing project Frankie & Johnny in Berlin-Treptow, of which the modular container structure has evolved significantly.

Barbara Holzer will be a speaker at Architecture and Planning Day 2018, hosted by AIT Dialog and ACO Academy. This year's event addresses future urban developments. Barbara Holzer will present a variety of public space projects, from small to large scale.
