Volker Mau

Born in Rostock, Germany, Volker Mau finished his apprenticeship in banking at the Deutsche Bank in 1997. He changed his career path to architecture and obtained his university diploma at the Technische Universität Dresden in 2003. Internships in Switzerland led him to Barbara Holzer and Tristan Kobler. After the fusion of their two companies to Holzer Kobler Architekturen in 2004 he was employed as senior architect until 2008 and responsible as project lead for real estate development projects. In 2008 Volker Mau was appointed to a member of the executive committee and is since then leading the architecture department in Zurich. He was responsible for projects such as Rex Max Thun, a conversion and new construction of a former industrial site, or the hospital complex University Hospital for Geriatric Medicine and Rehabilitation Felix Platter in Basel. In 2013 Volker Mau was appointed as partner at Holzer Kobler Architekturen GmbH. He is responsible for designing and planning of the digitalisation processes.
