Barbara Holzer is a founding member of the architecture studio Holzer Kobler Architekturen Zurich/Berlin/Cologne/Nyon. Together with her business partner Tristan Kobler and a diverse team of talented designers she is responsible for an impressive portfolio of urban planning and architectural projects as well as scenography and design concepts.

As an internationally respected architect, Prof. Barbara sees architecture as a key field of action where societal mindsets, processes and visions can be stimulated. The resulting political claim for social responsibility as well as the promotion of women in architecture has always shaped her way of working and thinking. She is known for her innovative designs, based on themes like cultural authenticity and aesthetic identity as well as sustainable development and social values in the scope of constantly changing demands regarding living and working environments.

She is currently involved in urban planning projects, the development of affordable and sustainable housing concepts and the scenographic arrangements of numerous exhibitions. Prof. Barbara is also active in a wide variety of committees and juries, and since 2010 has been the professor for architecture and interior design at the Peter Behrens School of Arts in Düsseldorf (Germany). She is a member of the Swiss Association of Engineers and Architects, the Berlin Chamber of Architects and of Deutscher Werkbund Berlin.

In addition to many awards for their architecture and designs, Barbara Holzer and Tristan Kobler received the Grand Prix Design of the Swiss Confederation in 2008 for their international engagement.
