Opening Gender and Violence

Submitted by Melissa Caflisch on Wed, 04/25/2018 - 17:16

Violence and gender have always had a complex and often unsettling relationship. There is a persistence in attributing war with the masculine, peace with the feminine. A special exhibition at Military History Museum examines the phenomenon from unexpected angles and challenges established notions. The exhibition has been designed in collaboration with zweikant architekturen. The main curator Dr. Gorch Pieken has been assisted by the exhibition agency in charge, kursiv | text – objekt – raum. Graphic design has been developed by 2xGoldstein.

The installation "targeted interventions" conquers the museum’s yard for the time of the exhibition: Contemporary artists present their positions regarding the interplay of violence and gender.

The exhibition is shown from April 27 to October 30, 2018.
